Mother River
Hand-sewn squares of discarded bed linen come together to form an 'intergenerational patchwork', where family members figuratively come together in eternal rest and are able to communicate with each other.
Preserved cracks, worn places and repaired pieces of fabric serve as metaphors for communication and the desire to repair ancestral trauma. An eternally flowing river, symbolising the cyclical nature of time, crosses all this.
The seemingly monochrome textile reveals various shades and layers of history when viewed against the light.
Collaboration with a textile artist, Světana Pavlíčková. Curated by Šárka Zahálková and Kjetil Detroit Kristensen as part of MølleØy exhibition. Analogue pictures by Darjan Hardi.
